A.J. and I have spent many hours over the years with scissors and glue in hand, forging a bond with one another through arts and crafts. Always coming up with projects to do on rainy, snowy or just plain old boring days and always with joy and laughter. Dreaming up different craft ideas for different occasions and holiday. The hours we spent together making this or making that is priceless. I would not exchange those hours and moments for all the gold in the world.
On another note, Arts and Crafts can also be a learning tool. Arts and Crafts can teach science and history. They teach how to follow instructions. Even eye to hand motor skills. Arts and Crafts are a perfect outlet to spend quality time as a family creating, dreaming and sharing ideas with one another. Arts and Crafts can teach patience, family values and family heritage.
Arts and Crafts have been used for years as a theraputic aid for stress. In todays stressful world we all can use a healthy outlet for stress. Plus Arts and Crafts are just plain fun.
Arts and Crafts have been in exsistance since the beginning of mankind. What we today call arts and crafts, were the tools of survival in another time.
Still today I will mention to someone how I learned this or that from my Mother, Father or my own Grandparents. I have taken great joy in sharing that skill or knowledge with my own children and grandchildren over the years. There are few things more gratifying then being able to make something yourself, sharing the knowledge with someone else and taking pride in its completion.
I feel that Arts and Crafts help children and even adults nurture their imaginations. Allows people to continue to learn in a fun and enjoyable way.
I believe that the inventors and visionaries of the past and of today are the ones who's imaginations were allowed to discover . How better to discover then to create something from the beginning. What better way to tell someone how much you care , then by making something with your own hands with them in mind.
